A filmmaker is an individual who conceptualises, visualises, creates and produces a film. Although the term typically refers to the director of the film, it is actually an umbrella term that can include the screenwriter, editor, cinematographer, director, or producer. A filmmaker develops and shapes the plot, visuals, performances, and production. They guide the project from concept to final cut.

Filmmaking can involve a number of coordinated tasks ranging from idea development, scripting, planning, pre-production, directing, shooting, sound, editing, production, and final distribution. A filmmaker is required to collaborate with a team of creative professionals like actors, cinematographers, designers, editors and others to bring their vision onto the screen. 

A filmmaker shapes a film from the first draft of the script to the final cut. They interpret scripts, assemble the creative team, plan shots, guide actors and technical crew, and manage set operations. They work closely with sound, design, and editing departments to bring the film together, while keeping the project on schedule, on budget, and aligned with the original vision.

Students need 50% marks or above in Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination with English as a compulsory subject. Students must appear for GD and PI at iLEAD. Final admission is subject to CET clearance and university approval of academic records.
