Hands on training is the most essential step in gaining experience and getting to learn everything ‘the industry way’. Nothing comes in easy and iLEAD provides its students to take up the challenge and balance both academic theory and practical together by undergoing hands on training in their curriculum. There’s a mammoth difference between knowing something, studying about it and actually doing it. You make mistakes, you rectify them and you take notes but that is how you learn to execute your job flawlessly. In order to strike the right balance, one has to juggle both and successfully deliver.

Coca Cola, one of the premiere soft drinks in the world marked its entry in India back in 1950.

Coca Cola, one of the premiere soft drinks in the world marked its entry in India back in 1950. The management students of iLEAD got the opportunity to visit their plant at Taratola, Kolkata. It was an enriching experience for the students as they got first hand exposure to the line of manufacturing along with knowing about various operations and production of Coca Cola. They got to learn about the various processes and methods involved and also about the planning and quality control of the brand.

Industrial Visit to S.A. Exports

On April 20th 2022, the batch of BBA Entrepreneurship was taken for an industrial visit to S.A. Exports, a leading seafood exporter in Eastern India.

It is Kolkata’s largest and most advanced seafood processing unit. With a state of the art water treatment facility, the Government of India recognized unit is located within 30 minutes of distance from the airport. The students along with the faculty members were received warmly by the authorities and the students were given a tour of the entire plant along with making them understand the entire processing of the unit. It was a great learning experience for the students.

On January 9, 2023, students from the department of travel and tourism visited the office of the well-known travel brand, SOTC.

This industry visit exposed the students to real practices of the travel industry. They got to learn from the desk of SOTC about how travels are curated and packages are planned by renowned travel agencies. The students learned about travel specifications, nuances of international and national holiday packages, and destination planning from the professionals at SOTC. This had been a great exposure for the students of travel and tourism at iLEAD.

On November 7th, 2022, students of B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology visited Drs. Tribedi and Roy Diagnostic Laboratory.

Dr. Subhendu Roy himself briefed the students. He talked and demonstrated about how a medical laboratory works and made the students understand various hematology, and biochemistry analysis devices in the laboratory. It was an enriching experience for the students of B.Sc in Medical Lab Technology.

On September 2nd 2022, the department of travel and tourism organized a field trip for the students

The iLEAD students had the opportunity to visit the Aircraft Museum at New Town, Kolkata. The Aircraft Museum is the first such museum in West Bengal and the 2nd one in India after Vishakhapatnam. The Aircraft Museum is a joint initiative by the Indian Navy and the Government of West Bengal and is created to showcase the maritime history of India to the general public and students. Students at the museum witnessed various submarines and aircrafts that were used by the navy but now are decommissioned.

On September 1st 2022, students from the Optometry department of iLEAD had the opportunity to visit the Centre for Sight, an eye hospital at the AJC Bose Road, Kolkata

Centre for Sight is a Mahindra Collaboration with around 50 eye care centres across India. The students at the visit got to witness the operations of an eye hospital. They were also given firsthand knowledge of various equipment used by eye care professionals. They received a general idea about the functioning of an eye care facility. The 1st semester students of Bachelor in Optometry visited the Centre For Sight eye centre.

A field trip to the New Town facility of Bhagirathi Neotia Woman and Child Care Centre was organized by iLEAD. Students from the Allied Health department visited the hospital for a practical demonstration of the real hospital environment. The opportunity let students observe work in the departments of OPD, IPD, Radiology, Diagnostic, ICU, NICU, PICU, Emergency, and also Pharmacy. The field trip was organized for first-year allied health students who received exposure to hospital operations for the first time in a practical environment.

iLEAD has a tie up with Ruby General Hospital and the hospital visit was the first learning activity for our students on the part of the association. The 1st Semester students of BBA Hospital Management, BSc in Medical Lab Technology and BSc in Medical Instrumentation and Critical Care Technology had visited the Ruby General Hospital on 26th August 2022. Ruby General Hospital is NABH Accredited and an ISO 9001:2015 hospital, which is the first hospital that has instituted “Patients Bills of Rights”. The hospital’s Advanced Diagnostic service is backed by 24×7 NABL Accredited Pathology.

Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd. is a Government of India Enterprise engaged in diversified business with presence in both manufacturing and service businesses. The company is engaged in the business of Industrial Packaging Greases & Lubricants Leather Chemicals Logistic Services and Infrastructure Refinery & Oil Field and Travel & Vacation Services in India. The students received an on site practical experience through the industrial visit.

On June 2nd 2022, the students of M.Sc Media Science (Semester 6) got the opportunity to visit the TV9 Bengali News Channel studio

Media Science Students Visit TV9 News Channel

The studio visit helped the students to witness real time studio activity in a mainstream news channel. This added to the knowledge of students, especially the ones who aspire to become journalists in the electronic media. The visit was organized by the Placement Department of iLEAD in which students also got to interact with the TV9 journalists and studio members. It was an enriching experience for the students of Media Science who are now set to start their career as freshers in the highly competitive media industry.
