Photography WorkShop and Adda

iLEAD in association with t2 conducted a Photography Workshop and Adda which focussed on interaction, learning and exchange of ideas with aspiring photographers from across Kolkata. The participants were asked to click, edit and submit photographs on the theme of the day - "Emotions".


iLEAD Chairman, Mr Pradip Chopra greeted the audience by addressing them about the significance of photography in today's world. Mr. Suman Bandyopadhyay, a professional photographer, iLEAD Faculty and a technical writer for photography magazines, was one of the judges who introduced the participants to the rules for the session. Mr Shankar Mondal, a national award winner for photography and FIAP from Belgium with several recognitions to his credit, Mr Shankar Tulsan, a renowned photographer for weddings who has worked for eminent personalities, IPL ceremony and many other occasions were the other judges with Prof Bandopadhyay who interacted with the presenters about the theme, the technicalities, the purpose of images etc. Joining them was Mr Aroop Datta, a veteran photographer who has been working in the field of photography for last 42 years for the Adda session that was to follow.


The photographs ranged from portraying emotions of beggars to portraying emotions of children playing in the streets. The Adda that followed was full of interesting interactions and questions from the participants that ranged from - what camera to use and why? What inspired the photographers in the panel to take up photography? to What are the job prospects in advertising for a photographer? With great answers and chat sessions some of the interesting points that came across were - It is important to be completely immersed, devoted and sincere to the art, it is vital to not consider any one person as the icon and studying works of other photographers are an essential.


The runner up of the competition was Mr Samson Jacob and the 1st prize went to Arijit Paul, a media science student from iLEAD. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the esteemed judges and with the hope that this kind of event will infuse the passion and spirit of capturing life and its varied emotions through photography.
