Managedia 2019 – Media, Management and Cultural Fest

Managedia 2019, 'The Sacred Games- Strategies in Changing Times' presented by iLEAD and Elevanza in association with TGI Fridays, Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital, GlamDiva and powered by The Telegraph was held from February 20th to 22nd 2019 at the iLEAD campus, Topsia. With participants from 40 colleges, 80 sponsors and 200 judges, the 6th edition of Managedia was an enthralling and unforgettable event.

Dr. Saikat Maitra, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Managedia this year. Sanjay Jhunjhunwala, Chairman and Director of Turtle Ltd. and Kazi Zahidul Hasan, Chairman of Kazi Farms Group and Kazi Media Pvt. Ltd. from Bangladesh presided over as the Guests of Honor. Dr. Perween Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Central Women's University of Bangladesh also had graced the dais.

Colleges that participated in the event included IIBS, Amity University, IHM, Shri Shikshayatan College, Calcutta University, IIHM, Techno India, St. Paul's Cathedral Mission College, Scottish Church College, Lady Brabourne College, Shivnath Shashtri College, Ashutosh College, J.D. Birla Institute, St. Xavier's College, NSHM, St. Thomas, Bhawanipur Education Society College among others.

Students from various colleges were given the challenge to come up with proposals that were innovative and adaptive with changing times and technology. The best among them were selected as per the smartest moves made by them in various events of media, management, animation, field and cultural programs. The events ranged from Business Plan, Best Manager, Digital Marketing, AD and PR, Journalism, Marketing, Field Event and Photography. The cultural fest included group and solo dance, group and solo singing, war of rappers, beat boxing, pot painting, 3 minutes to fame, fashion show, stage play and cosplay. Some of the new events that were included this year were interior designing, fashion designing and doodling.

The various rounds of management included presentations on various innovative technologies including micro-chip storage, e-wallet, food vending and next level marketing strategies. The media rounds included presentations on changing strategies in journalism, dissemination of newspapers and emerging new media. The Digital Marketing event had rounds like 'minute to minute' wherein the participants had to create two separate films of 1 minute each on themes of 'strategy' and 'change in time'. Some of the marveling doodle art were based on themes of city life, 'chaos' and 'sound pollution'.

Quill Verse round witnessed an excellent demonstration of black out poetry. Interior Designing event also witnessed some groundbreaking creativity from students wherein they proposed great designs by using waste products for beautification of homes. The cultural fest was power packed with memorable performances from various colleges and universities. The Fashion Show round witnessed some amazing themes based on evolution of sarees, good and evil side of human being and woman power.

The War of Wrappers round amazed the audience with a stunning spontaneous faceoff between three finalists, one of whom was a girl student. The Solo Dance round had performances ranging from hip-hop, popping, break dance to Indian classical. Some of the Group Dance themes were based on women empowerment and freedom of expression. The Solo and Group Singing rounds witnessed some great renditions of contemporary and classical Bollywood numbers along with folk songs. The event of Pot Painting paved way for some splendid designs on the canvas of clay pots. Cosplay remained to be a memorable event in which students took up avatars of a variety of popular characters from Bengali Literature and films that included the famous Joker from Batman.

Among the esteemed guests who attended the cultural fest of Managedia were Jimmy Tangree, Head of 91.9 Friends FM and actor Anirban Bhattacharya of television series 'Bhoomikanya', web series 'Byomkesh' and films like 'Ek Je Chilo Raja' and 'Uma' fame.

The distinguished judges in various rounds of the events included Indranil Banerjee, a renowned wildlife and macro-photographer, Indrani Raha, Head of Journalism and Mass Communication Department In Muralidhar Girls' College, Mala Dasgupta, Founder of Grey Matter PR, Arnab Basu, a Best Consultant Awardee worldwide by Mckinsey& Co in 2011, Manasi Shah from The Telegraph, Samrat Roy from Endeavor Careers, Gautam Bhattacharya, Assistant General Manager, Mcnally Bharat Engineering Company, Ratna Roy, renowned dancer and a protege of Pandit Birju Maharaj and Chanda Dasgupta from Kala Bhawan among others. The 1st day of the event concluded with a performance by singer Abhishek Roy Choudhury and the 2nd day had DJ Puneet and DJ Bhavesh of BPM Projekt heating up the dance floor for the participants.

 

On 22nd of February the event was wrapped up following a closing award ceremony. The awardees included -

Other awards included 'Managedia Stars 2019' for dedicated volunteering and coordinating. It was awarded to iLEADERS Rohit Chaukhani, Dipankita Ghosh, Ronit Kumar Singh, Aman Jain, Vedant Duggal, Vatsala Jhunjhunwala and Srishti Prasad.

Best Representative College Award went to NSHM. Bhawanipur College won the Most Active College Award and JDBI Main grabbed the award for Best Visiting College at Managedia 2019.
