iLEAD hosted the international conference of The Indian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (IIQS) on July 13th.
The Chief Guest of the event had been Prof. Saikat Maitra, Vice Chancellor, Maulana Abul Kalam University of Technology. Mr. Piyush Bhagat, Vice President, CREDAI Bengal, had been the Guest of Honor.
The event started off with Mr. Pradip Chopra, Chairman of iLEAD and PS Group, conducting a session on the importance of design in real estate. He talked about the economical and durability factors related to circular buildings.
Mr. Piyush Bhagat spoke on IIQS being a guide for estimation and budgeting of real estate projects for the future.
Prof. Saikat Maitra talked about starting academic programs on quantity surveying by next year by following the available course structures existing in other foreign countries.
Mr. Varughese Mathew, Director and President of IIQS, spoke on how they manage quantity surveying internationally along with their code of conduct and next course of action.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. K.S. Kharb who provided insights on the challenges and opportunities for quantity surveyors in developing countries.
Technical sessions on 'Use of BIM and other software in state of the art quantity surveying' and panel discussions on topics like 'Quantity Surveyors as cost control specialists' and 'Education scenario of quantity surveying in India and rest of the world' were conducted in the second half of the day.
The event ended with a vote of thanks from Ms. Madhumita Saha, Honorary Secretary, IIQS Kolkata Chapter.
