On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of India's independence, iLEAD celebrated the day with a number of events planned by the NSS and the Cultural Club of iLEAD.
The day started off at 8:30 am with the flag hoisting ceremony followed by the national anthem. Post the flag hoisting ceremony, Chairman Mr. Pradip Chopra addressed the students speaking about the achievements of India as a country in the last 75 years of independence despite the odds and difficulties faced by the nation. He talked about how we have succeeded in preserving our unity in diversity despite the fact that many world leaders deemed it to be impossible.
The independence day event also witnessed the presence of dignitaries from the Cancer Fight Foundation. Dr. Achintya Das, Chairman of Cancer Fight Foundation, along with other volunteers were felicitated by Mr. Pradip Chopra. Dr. Achintya Das also addressed the audience talking about the importance of cancer awareness.
There had been cultural events too organized by the students. The program started with an inaugural patriotic song sung by a student. Students also danced and sang on the beats of well-known patriotic tunes. The students from the NSS unit performed a skit on stage that talked about cancer awareness. They referred to smoking, drinking.
