On November 26, 2024, the Allied Health Department of iLEAD conducted a session focusing on Health and Innovations driven by advanced technology such as machine learning and AI. The event commenced with a warm welcome speech and lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome address by the Principal of iLEAD. The event’s highlight was a panel discussion featuring esteemed professionals from a wide array of healthcare domains.
Mr Nirupam Roychowdhury, Senior Operation Manager in the Operation Theatre at CMRI Hospital, Kolkata, shared insights from his 27 years of experience, emphasising the importance of continuous learning and fostering innovation for transformative advancements in the field. Ramyani Bhattacharjee, a senior optometrist at Priyamvada Birla Aravind Eye Hospital, also explained the revolutionary impact of AI and machine learning in optometry, particularly in testing multifocal contact lenses and addressing childhood myopia with advanced lenses.
Dr Anindya Sundar Panja, an Assistant Professor in Biotechnology and Biochemistry at the Burdwan Institute of Management and Computer Science, discussed the integration of microdevices and machine learning in healthcare diagnostics, including mapping COVID-19 virus particles. He encouraged the audience to cultivate original ideas to drive innovation in the medical field bringing advancement. The event highlighted the potential of innovation in critical care technology to address challenging healthcare scenarios by Subhajit Adhikari, a Critical Care Technologist at Midnapore Medical College and Hospital. Additionally, the panel discussion inspired attendees to explore growth in the healthcare field and emphasised the value of innovative thinking for career success.
Students actively participated in the session by delivering presentations on various healthcare topics, showcasing their creativity and innovative approaches to leveraging technology in healthcare. The day also included engaging activities such as extempore speeches, a debate, slogan-making, and a lively song medley, adding a cultural dimension to the day. The sessions were well-received, with both the participants and the audience finding them enriching and enjoyable.
The event ended with a prize distribution ceremony to recognise outstanding contributions, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks. It not only profoundly impacted education, networking, and the healthcare sector but also motivated the participants to secure successful careers within the industry.
