The 2nd day of the conclave of ‘Future Vista- The New Age Careers’ on June 14th 2022, witnessed the presence of dignitaries from the fields of management, entrepreneurship and tourism.
The third panel on tourism had eminent personalities from the industry including Dr. Dilip Kr. Das (HOD, Tourism Dept, Burdwan University), Mr. Hemant Mediratta (Founder, One Rep Global), Mr. Samrat Chowdhury (Co-Founder and Chief Mentor, BAUL Foundation and Heritage Activist) and Mr. TowsifAnam (Deputy General Manager, SOTC).
“No doubt we have lost two years, but we are coming up in a bigger way” said Prof. Dilip Kr. Das. He further said, “India will be an upcoming destination for medical tourism. Huge number of patients are coming to India”.
“We have a younger population in the country which has disposable income and travel features amongst their top 5 spends. So, it’s a great time to be in India, study tourism as well as be in the tourism business”, said Hemant Mediratta.
Samrat Chowdhury, “There are 3 distinct opportunities for all of you. One, you become academicians in the field of tourism. One more option is to become self-entrepreneurs. You can have your own travel agency, become a tour operator or guide. Incredible India has also launched tourist facilitator programs, you can do that, give exam and get the prestigious badge.Or you can do some courses, pass out and be professionals in the tourism industry”.
“Three things to remember for future professionals – Speed, future ready and adaptability to change. If you have these three things, you are most welcome in the tourism industry”, said TowsifAnam, while talking about the current requirements of the tourism industry.
All the 3 panels also took questions from the enthusiastic students who attended the event to get a more detailed view about their future careers from the experts.
