On April 9, 2024, “The Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Development” or iLEAD witnessed the premiere of "Future Vista: The New Age Careers."On the first day, the three-day professional conclave has been marked in the context of the second iteration. The event was highly significant as “Future Vista’ assisted our students in unlocking the best job opportunities ahead of them with the rise of new-age career options.
In the first panel of the day, Ms. Kamalika Sengupta (Editor, Digital East of News18 and Multilingual Journalist), Ms. Ayushi Dutta (Food Writer and Freelance Contributor in the Telegraph Online and My Kolkata) and Mr. Tirthankar Das (Principal Correspondent, AajKal Digital) were welcomed as the esteemed panelists and they stressed on how to perform news reporting on the social media.
Ms. Kamilini discussed the growth of social media and algorithm-driven effective consumption of news that has exacerbated polarization. According to her, a journalist should remain committed to upholding ethical standards and delivering accurate reports to keep their beliefs on social media by following the committee to protect journalists and the Society of Professional Journalists. Ms. Kamalika Sen Gupta talked about her experiences covering news stories. She said, "Cover a story, don't be a story." Whereas, Ms Ayushi Dutta also shared her experience as a freelance contributor with students regarding how to represent content digitally with creativity. Ms. Ayushi Dutta advised, "Your article needs to have something that other people's articles don't." on the other hand, Being swift and digitally sound, need to know how to edit, how to shoot, and how to report in digital journalism, was suggested by Mr. Tirthankar Das.
