The Department of M.Sc in Animation and Graphics under the iLEAD School of Creativity recently experienced an enriching field trip to Shantiniketan, a renowned heritage site in West Bengal, from February 18th to 20th, 2025.
The key objective of the visit was to inspire the students for their final project, which involved creating a product influenced by Shantiniketan’s unique art forms and cultural legacy. Additionally, they were assigned the task of producing a documentary film to promote the local art community, highlighting its historical significance and contemporary relevance.
Through interactions with local artists and one-of-a-kind experiences, students sought to capture the essence of folk art while honing their skills in documenting and presenting the traditions of Shantiniketan through their way of storytelling.
During the trip, students were divided into three different groups, each responsible for studying a specific traditional craft: Batik, Vegan Leather, and Dokra Casting. Each group conducted in-depth research and gathered valuable insights. This experience provided them with hands-on learning opportunities, enriching their understanding of traditional art forms and enhancing their practical knowledge.
