Legendary musician Bappi Lahiri visits ILEAD Kolkata as a Chief Guest for NEZ International FILM Festival 2016.
NEZ, a platform to promote excellence in education, arts, literature, films, medicine, science, research and community service hosted the three day long NEZ International Film Festival (NIFF) from 25th September to 27th September and showcased a range of feature films, shorts and documentaries at iLEAD Campus. The guest of honour for the opening ceremony was music legend Bappi Lahiri and he was felicitated with the prestigious NEZ Global Icon Award. He received the award from award-winning filmmaker Sudeep Ranjan Sarkar, producer Rita Jhawar and actress Rokeya Prachy from Bangladesh.
Some of the acclaimed shorts shown in the festival over a period of three days were - The Fawn Response, Okkhor, Dastaan-E-Rafi, Pinch of Salt, French Date, Psycho, Mystic Shore, It's Time Now, The Queen, Meri Awaz Suno and Kaul.
NEZ founder Sudeep Ranjan Sarkar's multi award winning film Unformung: The Transformation, some scenes of which were shot at iLEAD with iLEAD Chairman Pradip Chopra also featuring in the film, deals with two parallel stories, a Buddhist monk living in a monastery searching for truth and another about a successful individual and how her perception of life is changed from understanding of only power and wealth to secrets of truth and life.
The festival which ended with the awards ceremony on the Tuesday, 27th September saw many iLEAD students and movie enthusiasts flocking inside the auditorium and participating in the viewership with great interest.
