iLEAD organized a session on promoting Indian tourism through the joint effort of the Murshidabad Heritage Society and Govt. of India- Ministry of Tourism department .The Tourism department is organizing a "Paryatan Parv" till 25th October 2017. The event on 7th October (a part of this festival) at iLEAD was centered on showcasing some tourism related films and encourages tourism.
Mr. Sanjeev Dey Chowdhuri, Cultural representative of Ministry of tourism opened the session speaking about the objectives of the tourism festival. He emphasized on the fact that the festival will showcase the various facets of the rich diversity of India.
The tourism festival will comprise cultural programs, interactive sessions, workshops and many more such activities to make the common man aware of his locality, city and the entire nation. Mr. JP Shaw - the Eastern division head of the Ministry of Tourism gave the welcome address of the session where he told about the rich geographical diversity of the country and the concept of attracting visitors from within India and the world, 365 days in a year and not only in certain particular months like from October to March.
He even put attention towards the fact that the Ministry of tourism is also committed to make the travel and tourism scenario vibrant through proper training of the tourist guides who are the real ambassadors of the nations. The other initiatives in this regard by the Ministry of Tourism also include recognition and classification of all kind of Hotels, lodges, inns, guest house and paying guest accommodation for all kind of visitors. Two videos were shown on incredible India for making the audience understand the beauty and diversity of India through the eyes of a foreign traveler. Two tourism related films were shown during the event which included- 'Mystique of Murshidabad' and 'Gangasagar'. Both government and private bodies are participating in the festival such as iLEAD, Indian Museum, ASI, Ministry of Tourism of State and Central Government etc.
Mr. Pradip Chopra, addressed the audience during the session and told about his vision of promoting tourism in India. He emphasized on the fact that travel and tourism is the fastest growing industry in the world and every individual in the city should be first aware about the stories related to his locality and city. He even told about the Chinese community which had great contribution in the cultural heritage of India. The travel documentary film 'Mystique of Murshidabad', focused on the rich historical legacy of this erstwhile capital of Bengal. The film focused on the areas of Azimganz and Jiaganz and Jagat Seth's house. Glimpses of Murshidabad Heritage Festival were also shown in the film. The film was a presentation from the creative and Media team of iLEAD.
The second film shown in this category was Ganga Sagar which is directed and produced by Dr. Monojit Adhikari. The film showcases the history behind the advent of Ganga river in India and the reason of the celebration of Ganga Sagar festival on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. Dr. Monojit Adhikari is a reputed travel documentary film maker who was an assistant of several documentary films made on diverse aspects of travel and tourism of India. He is even working as a liason officer in the tourism department of the Government. He is also a documentary film maker on socio cultural aspects of India and specially Bengal where he tries to capture the real life of people living in different walks and cultural backgrounds of society through his lens. He is also an entrepreneur and has started an organization named Shilpagraha which works on rural women and handicapped children and even old people of the villages. Mr. JP Shaw felicitated Dr. Monojit Adhikari for his outstanding contribution in the Indian tourism Industry. The session came to an end with the thought that Indian tourism has a bright prospect ahead through massive participation of the common man and the youth of our nation.
