Teach for India, a non-profit organization, working towards achieving 'educational equity' came to iLEAD on February 12th 2019 aiming to encourage fresh graduates to join the education force of the nation.
The mission is to provide education to the students from the rural and remote sectors in the country.
New graduates are inspired through their program to teach the less privileged children of the nation across 7 cities in low income government and private schools. It is a 2 year, paid fellowship and full time opportunity for the college graduates.
It not only will enable the graduates and working professionals to share their knowledge with children but also will help building leadership qualities in them.
Presently, Teach for India operates in 443 classrooms and provide learning opportunities to 30,248 children. Other colleges or universities that have joined them include St. Stephens, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Edinburgh, Berkeley University, TISS Mumbai & Guwahati, Tezpur University, IIT Guwahati, NIT Agartala and North Eastern Hill University.
Professionals who have joined in from organizations include McKinsey Knowledge Center, Google, Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs, Samsung and Citigroup.
The session had a positive impact on the minds of iLeaders. They believe that it's time for the educated India to give back some value education to its next generation.
