A new vision took shape at THERACON’25, a landmark conference that explored “Vision Beyond Sight: The Expanding Role of Optometrists in Holistic Health Care” took place at iLEAD on  September 19, 2025.  The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Principal Ms. Dipali Singhi, symbolising the light of knowledge, collaboration, and innovation that guided the sessions ahead.

Today, optometry stands at the forefront of transformation — moving beyond the conventional focus on refraction and corrective lenses to become a vital part of whole-body wellness and preventive healthcare. THERACON’25 served as a platform for students, academicians, and industry experts to come together, share ideas, and reimagine the role of optometrists in modern healthcare.

The event also featured a special session dedicated to "Lab Link - The Silent Backbone of Healthcare", which underscores the indispensable role of medical laboratories and diagnostic scientists. These professionals serve as the foundation of evidence-based medicine, providing the crucial data that empowers clinicians and ensures patient safety. Behind every accurate diagnosis, successful surgical intervention, or effective therapeutic plan lies the silent contribution of laboratory professionals. The term "Silent Backbone" is a tribute to these unsung heroes, whose dedication ensures that our healthcare systems remain trustworthy and patient-centric.

Dr. Paras Banerjee (Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) at Nil Ratan Sircar (NRS) Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata) is a distinguished cardiac surgeon and academician, has expresses his enthusiasm, "My career reflects the spirit of a skilled surgeon and an inspiring academic leader, driven by a vision to integrate clinical excellence, advanced research, and compassionate care."

Dr. Rituparna Datta (Head of the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Technology) is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Biotechnology, who served as a valued jury member for this event.

Mr. Tanmoy Majumder (Head of the Institution at IIHMAIS, Kalyani) is a strong blend of academic excellence, professional expertise, and leadership said, "I am committed to making a lasting impact through expertise in operations, quality assurance, and healthcare strategy, ensuring better patient outcomes and more resilient health systems."

A distinguished optometrist and academician, Ms. Kazi Hasina Jahan Siddiqui (Head of the Department of Optometry at Durgapur Paramedical College) has made remarkable contributions to advancing eye care education and promoting public health awareness, fostering continuous knowledge growth among students. He said that his focus remained on student mentorship and public health outreach, ensuring that my contributions to optometry education and community eye care make a significant impact on the field.

Mr. Sanjoy Kumar Das (Senior Optometrist and Academic Coordinator at Rotary Techno Netralaya & founder of Dishari Opticals), Dr. Kama Chakraborty (Teacher-in-Charge of the College of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences at the West Bengal University of Health Sciences) and  Mr. Gopal Mahato (Operation Head of HCAH) have continued to make an impact through their expertise in operations, quality assurance, and healthcare strategy.

The conference featured a series of engaging presentations, with each participant having 8 minutes to present, followed by a 2 to 3-minute session for questions and discussion. The event concluded with an inspiring closing ceremony, with all speakers and jury members being felicitated THERACON'25 delivered a clear message to learners that it is time for optometrists to take on a growing and significant role in comprehensive patient care. The session offered practical knowledge for enhanced learning and introduced new research insights. Students found that the event supported their career growth and contributed to a healthier, more connected future for them in the medical industry.
