In an era where artificial intelligence and digital technologies are reshaping industries, the relevance of intellectual property rights (IPR) has become more crucial than ever. To explore this transformation, iLEAD hosted the International Conference on Intellectual Property Rights, Law & Practice in the Age of AI & Digital Transformation from July 2–4, 2025.

The three-day conference served as a multidisciplinary platform, bringing together academics, researchers, professionals, entrepreneurs, and students to discuss how law, media, business, and technology are being redefined in the digital age. The event was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Mr. Pradip Chopra (Chairman of iLEAD), Mr. Soumen Chatterjee (Principal of iLEAD), and esteemed guests, symbolising the illumination of infinite creative possibilities.

The event was graced by eminent academics and professionals, whose insights enriched the conference discussions.

●       Mr. Anindya Sengupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Film Studies, Jadavpur University (since 2004)

●       Dr. Mausumi Bhattacharyya, Associate Professor & Head, Centre for Journalism and Mass Communication, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan

●       Mr. Arindam Basu is, journalist-turned-entrepreneur-turned-academician and faculty at Sister Nivedita University. He is an experienced speaker and trainer on communication, media practices, and industry trends.

Day 1 (July 2, 2025) session began with keynote addresses on the future of intellectual property in the AI-driven economy. Dr. Ayanangshu Sarkar said that in the age of AI, economics is not just about numbers but about creating frameworks that ensure technology works for inclusive and sustainable growth. A panel discussion was held on law, media, and technology, with cross-disciplinary insights into digital rights, content ownership, and ethical AI on Day 2 (July 3, 2025), where Mr. Anindya Sengupta said, “Cinema has always mirrored society. As AI reshapes storytelling, our task is to safeguard creativity while embracing innovation." Day 3 (July 4, 2025) witnessed a prize distribution ceremony to honour all participants for their contributions in academic activities after the final paper presentations and engagement activities. The event successfully discussed new ideas in IPR, AI applications, and changes in the digital world by encouraging lively academic conversations about IPR today and connecting law, media, economics, and technology through different viewpoints. It encouraged young researchers to engage with real-world challenges in digital transformation and reinforced iLEAD’s role as a hub for academic excellence, innovation, and thought leadership in emerging fields.

The International Conference on Intellectual Property Rights, Law & Practice in the Age of AI & Digital Transformation stood as a milestone event, highlighting the need for adaptable legal frameworks, responsible AI usage, and innovation-driven research. Through the participation of distinguished experts, professionals, and students, the event emphasised how academic institutions like iLEAD are driving meaningful conversations and preparing future leaders to navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving digital world.
