March 21, 2025
Every year, March 23rd is celebrated as World Optometry Day by the World Council of Optometry to highlight the crucial role of optometrists and to honour their tireless contributions to the well-being of society.
To commemorate this significant occasion, the Department of Optometry under the iLEAD School of Science & Technology organized a Vision Screening Camp on March 21st, 2025. Day 2 of the camp was conducted at Hartley Higher Secondary School, where 145 individuals — including students from classes V to X, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff — underwent eye examinations.
In addition to the screening, awareness sessions were held to educate students and staff on topics such as digital eye strain, proper lighting while studying, the importance of regular eye checkups, and the impact of nutrition on eye health.
This initiative not only benefited the local school community by identifying undiagnosed vision issues but also reflected iLEAD’s dedication to building a socially responsible and skilled healthcare workforce. It served as a valuable step toward promoting preventive eye care and creating a vision-aware generation.
