Future Vista – Session on Allied Healthcare

The 4th day of Future Vista conclave on June 16th 2022, witnessed discussions about growth and opportunities in the fields of allied healthcare and sports management.

The day’s first panel consisted of eminent personalities from the healthcare sector. The panelists were Mr. Pradip Tondon (CEO, Belle Vue Clinic), Dr. Annamalai Pandian (Chairman and Managing Director, Deepam Hospitals Group, Chennai), Dr. A Mahalingam (Managing Director, Twintech Healthcare Academy, Chennai), Mr. Suyash Borar (Director, Xceptional Health and Wellness Pvt. Ltd.), Dr.Saumitra Bharadwaj (Group President, Medica Group of Hospitals, Kolkata).

Speaking about the scope for students willing to join the healthcare industry, Mr. Pradip Tondon said,“We run hospitals. We know the amount of demand we have for the technicians, paramedics”.

He further said, “Today healthcare is not only about hospitals. It has diagnostic centres, educational institutions, paramedics, medical devices. So students who are thinking of making their career in this area, there’s a tremendous future. As soon as students pass out, they are absorbed”.

Dr. Annamalai Pandian talked about the growth of the healthcare sector in India. “The healthcare and the paramedical industry in India are expecting a growth of 25% which will go higher in the future”.

He also talked about the allied health courses that students can join after passing the 12th boards. “After completing +2 there are many allied health professional courses available apart from medical. There are almost 200 allied health courses available”, he said.

Dr. Saumitra Bharadwaj spoke about the numerous opportunities that are opening up in the healthcare sector due to increasing medical tourism. “We are still the No. 1 destination in the world for healthcare. Whole of Central Asia comes to India. Central Africa, North Africa also travel to India. Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar – All these services which are coming up, with that comes health insurance, travel insurance, travel management, service management, language support – All these are emerging as new segments of opportunities”, he said.

Suyash Borar also gave an insight into the healthcare operations and the job opportunities for students in each division. “In healthcare, you have everything. Marketing department, finance department, HR department, Operations, Stores or Materials. Apart from all these, we also have nursing, doctors, technical and paramedical. The scope in healthcare for any of you is tremendous”, he said.
