On September 20th 2019, iLEAD (Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship And Development), celebrated its 8th Annual Day "For Science Is The New Art Of Our Mind" at the G. D. Birla Sabhaghar, Kolkata. This year the theme of the event was based on the correlation of Nature and Science.

The Guest of Honor at the grand event had been the Vice Chancellor of MaulanaAbulKalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), Dr. SaikatMaitra.

The British Council, UK's international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities, also had been an important part of the day. Indrani Chakrabarti, Head of Arts (East and North East) at British Council, attended the event as a special guest.

Popular actor from Bengali cinema, Parambrata Chatterjee, also graced the event. Apart from praising the on stage performances, he also spoke how 'I' stands for 'innovation, integrity, inspiration and iLEAD'. Parambrata Chatterjee on the same day screened the trailer of his upcoming movie 'SatyanweshiByomkesh'.

Other important dignitaries who were present at the Annual Day celebrations included Mr. Harsh Vardhan Patodia (President Elect, CREDAI National and CMD of Unimark Group), Mr. NanduBelani (President of CREDAI Bengal and Chairman of Belani Housing Development Ltd.), Dr. Ashis Kumar Das (Assistant Professor, Ashutosh College, National Scholar in Applied Geology from Jadavpur University), Ms. Charisma Saraff (Principal, The School of Chinese Language in Kolkata, India Confucius Classroom), Mr. Sandeep Nowlakha (Vice President, Murshidabad Heritage Development Society), Mr. Anjil Roy Choudhury (Head of Incubation, IIMC), Mr. Bachhawat (Ex- Chief Secretary, Govt. of India),Ms. Nandita Pal Chaudhuri (Social Entrepreneur curating and consulting internationally in the field of Indian Folk Art Craft and Performance Practices), Ms. Shubha Das Mollick (Documentary Film Maker, Founder Secretary of Bichitra Pathshala), Dr. Deepali Singhee (Principal, J. D. Birla Institute), Mr. Sanjeev Nandwani (President, Global Business Development), Ms. Supreeta Singh (Publicist, Writer and Travel Enthusiast), Mr. Jimmy Tangree (Station Head, Friends FM), Mr. Subir Ghosh (Ex-Principal, Ashutosh College and a Corporate), Ms. Shruti Mohta (Founder Member and Joint Secretary of the Bengal Organ Donation Society), Ms. Shagufta Rahman (PR at The Park and Ex-iLEADER), Mr. Sudeep Ranjan Sarkar (Maverick filmmaker and a game changer in the world of independent cinema), Ms. Rita Jhawar (Chartered Accountant, Owner of NEZ Moving Pixels and NEZ International Film Festival), Ms. Prerna Rajaram (CNN-News 18), Ms. Ritusmita Biswas (SDB Digital Brandz Pvt. Ltd.) and Mr. Vikram Gupta (Flexi Seating Systems Pvt.

Ltd.).

Mr. Pradip Chopra, Chairman of iLEAD, in his welcome speech spoke about iLEAD's journey of 9 years and about 'the importance of scientific mindset among students and society'. He also talked about significance of 'rationality', 'science and scientific bend of mind'.

Dr. Saikat Maitra, Vice Chancellor of MAKAUT, addressed the audience talking about the professional courses, 'revamped form of courses' and all other associate activities of the university. He also spoke about introducing 'flexible exit from programs' in the university, the need to be ready for international level of education due to the changes in the National Educational Policy and 360 degree learning process for students.

The event started off with the National Anthem followed by a magnificent performance of the inaugural 'Vandana' by the students. Students also performed on a 'Theme Dance' that represented the importance of science in our lives, a 'Western Dance' sequence and 'Laser Dance' on stage. The talented students of iLEAD also walked on the ramp for a fashion show themed on the 'mystical dimensions of the zodiac'.

The Annual Day also witnessed outstanding performances by the employees of iLEAD. A special skit on the need of preserving the nature, a fashion show themed on the 5 elements of nature and a special Rajasthani folk dance on the song 'Ghoomar' were presented by the employees. All the performances on stage were choreographed by choreographer Mousumi Roy.

To commemorate the event, about 23 science teachers from various schools of Kolkata were felicitated by the dignitaries. The names of the teachers include Ms. Anindita Majumder (Vivekananda Mission School), Ms. Anjali Gupta (The Heritage School), Ms. Anjana Chakraborty (Ballygunge Shiksha Sadan), Ms. Anu Khosla (Indus Valley World School), Ms. Arunima Banerjee (Sri Sri Academy), Ms. Deepa Das (Lakshmipat Singhania School), Ms.Indrani Dasgupta (Abhinav Bharati High School), Ms. Joyita Banerjee (Loretto, Elliot Road), Ms. Manjula Datta (Caclutta Boys' School), Ms. Meera Kamak (Akshar School), Mrs. Nita Thapa (Julien Day School), Ms. Pallavi Bhansali (Birla High School), Mr. Paritosh Maiti (National English School), Mr. Priyadarshan Bhual (Don Bosco School, Park Circus), Mr. Rudra Prasad Banik (DPS, New Town), Ms. Rupika Nath (South City International School), Mr. Sabyasachi Pramanick (Patha Bhavan), Ms. Soma Banerjee (Shri Shikshayatan School), Mr. Somak Kumar Ghosh (Purwanchal Vidyamandir), Mrs. Sumita Sarkar (Sushila Birla Girls' School), Mr. Suprabhath Chakraborty (DPS, Ruby Park), Ms. Susmita Majumdar (Mahadevi Birla World Academy), Ms. Tania Ghosh (Calcutta International School).

Rajit Chowdhury, an iLEAD student from the 2nd year batch of Animation was also awarded for creating a brilliant comprehensive logo by amalgamating both the fundamental and contemporary sciences. Also, certificates were awarded to the employees of iLEAD during the 'Employee Awards' segment recognizing their exceptional performance.

The event ended with a jamming session by the teachers and students of iLEAD that received overwhelming response from the audience.
