The iLEAD Christmas Essence

Christmas is that time of the year when the entire world is busy shopping and making merry. But the true essence of Christmas lies in charity and empathy for others.

Last year, iLEAD in association with Tiljala Shed became part of the #SecretSanta Campaign for the year 2016-2017. A small Christmas decoration adorned the office, right before the reception area. Just beside that were few sledge shaped donation boxes, where employees could keep their gifts. From wearables like old garments including woolen sweaters, cardigans and mufflers to basic utility items as toiletries, stationeries and foods, employees donated heartily over a period of 10 days. However, the only condition was that clothes had to be in wearable forms and other commodities’ manufacturing dates checked thoroughly. The campaign came to an end after most employees visited Tiljala Shed along with Chairman, Mr. Pradip Chopra and Executive Director, Ms. Pragya Chopra to become a part of the noble deed on 4th January, 2017. But the best part about the campaign is the joy of reaching out to people; who unfortunately haven’t been blessed with the bounties of the world.

In the city of joy, there are ample philanthropic activities during Christmas that adorn the town apart from the cakes, the chocolates, the tinsels and the Christmas trees. This year iLEAD to live up to the spirit of Christmas is also organizing ‘Kidsville’, the city’s biggest Christmas Carnival for children at the iLEAD New Campus.

The entire iLEAD campus is decorated with lights, bells and artificial snowflakes and the students and faculty are gearing up for Kidsville. With that being said the Christmas weekend and the last week of 2017 will be a time for everyone to spread the new cheer before the beginning of a new semester in January.

An editor for various publications and a faculty of Media Science at iLEAD, I, after a decade of dating and impressing the world of media can often be seen on Sundays at various Kolkata cafes with a guitar, diary and microphone. Literature, jazz music and thunderstorms helps me write poetry, reports and movie scripts which gets me compliments, published articles in packages and awards from various countries at my doorstep when I least expect them. I have a knack for emceeing, teaching and sometimes singing on stage and I also completed courses in Photography and French (DELF A1) with distinction. Fitness, fashion, education and academics lure me although I can be a glutton for Bengali and Italian food, a talkative movie buff and a financial philosopher during weekends.
